32 LUNCHEON, A SHOW DINNER and IN THE GARDENS OF BAYOU BEND THE BOTANICAL GIFTS OF BAYOU BEND ARE DOUBLY CELEBRATED. Shelby Hodge smells the roses. Photography Jenny Antill Clifton, Wilson Parish. A lthough the azaleas had peaked and shed their blossoms across the grounds of Bayou Bend, within the garden tent — a stately presence erected in view of the estate's Diana Fountain — floral confections prevailed for two splendid gatherings. On Friday, with Elyse Lanier at the helm, lunching ladies arrived in their spring best for the Bayou Bend fashion show and luncheon, with many stopping for pho- tos in front of a flower wall, a wildly beautiful collection of roses, hydrangeas, and ranunculus in shades of yellow and gold, created by The Events Company. It was a palette not far removed from that of designer Adam Lippes, fresh from a holiday with the Sarofim clan in Lyford Cay, who presented his pre-fall and fall collections to the adoring throng. Among those whipping out their cards to nab a Lippes were Whitney Crane, Bobbie Nau, Jessica Roupe, Lindsay Holstead, and Courtney Sarofim, who heads a syndicate of Houston fans investing in Lippes' company. By Sunday night, the tableau had changed for dinner and dancing at the Bayou Bend Garden Party.
