ART + DECORATION 70 I n keeping with its mission as a Sherpa for photography collectors, Foto Relevance introduces Robert Calafiore to Houston art audiences. T h e C o n n e c t i c u t - b a s e d talent employs a handmade pinhole camera to forge futuristic images in startlingly saturated colors such as fuchsia, marigold, aqua, and plum. Calafiore's subjects include antique candlesticks, compotes, towering vessels, and other glass objects culled from his own mid-century modern collection. The artist's ongoing series "Oggetti di Vetro" (Objects of Glass), started a decade ago, involves the precarious stacking of fragile pieces and special chemical processes to produce oversized C-Prints. Unlike most photographic works, each one is unique; from $3,500 for a framed 24 x 20 inch chromogenic print. "Robert Calafiore: Glass Relics," May 17 – June 28, at Foto Relevance, fotorelevance. com.
