A fter nearly two decades in business, beloved Dallas-based home store Wisteria has opened a Houston location on West Alabama, next to Found. New president Caryn Lerner was in from Dallas to fête the new store, in an evening that celebrated the global design aesthetic for which Wisteria is known. The airy 9,000-square- foot store, which was designed by Murphy Mears Architects, is ideal for parties with numerous styled vignettes and plentiful places for a tête-à-tête. Champagne flowed, and hors d'oeuvres were passed as designers and longtime customers (via the Wisteria catalog that launched in 2001) took the opportunity to view furniture and accessories to get a sense of scale and texture. The new store also brought back to Houston Kathy Frietsch as Houston store general manager; Frietsch managed the Thompson + Hanson home store before she left to join Wisteria in Dallas.
