T o say that spring has sprung would be an understatement — and I don't just mean flowers in bloom and warmer temps. Rather, our March issue is positively packed with all the things we love about the dawn of a new season: fresh fashion, refreshed interiors and design, new store and restaurant openings, and events galore. We kick off spring 2022 with a new PaperCity tradition: our first 100 Texas Design Icons. Our editorial team tirelessly scoured this great state, rounding up the best of the best when it comes to the people, places, architecture, and objects that are emblematic of design in Texas. We're thrilled to honor them in this issue, and you don't want to miss it. Did your favorite design icon make this list? Turn to page 48 to find out! Also in design news: For those of us heading to Round Top Spring Antiques + Design Show, check out our preview, starting on page 114. To help you plan your trip, click to roundtop.com, where our expert team has gathered the best places to eat, stay, and shop year-round in what is quickly becoming a sought-after design destination. Park yourself at The Halles, PaperCity and Round Top Publishers world headquarters — buy a VIP ticket for your entire stay and reap the benefits! Full bar, fantastic food, great Wi-Fi, lounge seating, and invitations to the top parties. When it comes to the social season this year, we consider March a warm- up for an incredibly busy April. (I think we're all officially ready to get back on the party circuit!) Before our calendars become absolutely crazy, we have several PaperCity-sponsored to-dos this month: First up is The Salvation Army's Doing the Most Good Luncheon on Wednesday, March 9, at the Hilton Anatole. Stephanie Land, best-selling author of the memoir Maid (which inspired the Netflix series), is keynote speaker at this year's luncheon. Proceeds help The Salvation Army provide services to those combating poverty, addiction, and homelessness in North Texas. Then, on Friday, March 25, we adults head back to school — spiked juicebox in hand — for "Recess!" the signature fundraiser for Dallas Afterschool, which supports afterschool and summer programs for underserved children in our community. Hot on March's heels, Dallas Arts Month is back and officially kicks off with the Nasher Prize Gala on Saturday, April 2, honoring Nasher Prize laureate Nairy Baghramian. This month, we look back at the heady final collection of Virgil Abloh for Louis Vuitton men's, photographed in the Miami Design District with larger-than life effigies of Virgil himself. Whether it's in Round Top or out on the town in Dallas, I can't wait to clink a glass with you during one of the best springs yet. Brooke Dowdy Dallas Publisher brooke@papercitymag.com 26
