T hat all-eyes-on-you coat would have come in handy, if you'd made the trip to L.A. for the three days of events that Houston's Becca Cason Thrash created to benefit the restoration of the Roman Galleries of the Musée du Louvre. On one evening, I did nervous adjustments to my DIY cummerbund (a large Dior scarf that I had wrapped around my waist in a pleated manner) before heading from my hotel to Thrash's aptly titled La Grand Nuit. I knew that by night's end, it would likely come undone and be wrapped haphazardly around my neck — a telltale sign that a fabulous evening had devolved into cocktail- fueled dancing. And, it did. At one point, as the walls of the tent fluttered, I caught a glimpse of the attractive wait staff (got to love L.A. with its cater waiters who are generally aspiring actors with chiseled faces and manes of soap-opera blond tresses) in a frenzy, popping magnums of champagne. Get ready for a few days of aesthetic appreciation and unapologetic adulation at this year's Texas Design Week Dallas, Monday through Friday, September 19 through 23. Gather your pussy-bowed posse and check out the itinerary, which spans breakfast to cocktails: salon talks, book signings, and panels with divine decorators bearing notable names including Alex Papachristidis, Stephen Sills, Jean- Louis Deniot, David Netto, Suzanne Kasler, Drake/Anderson, Suzanne Tucker, Tony Duquette's Hutton Wilkinson, Ken Fulk, and 33 others. And, finally, I hope to bump into you at this year's eagerly anticipated Third Annual Kips Bay Decorator Show House Dallas on opening day Thursday, September 22. Behold room after room designed by another group of world- renowned visionaries. Keep in mind, you might not see me at first glance, since I plan to wear a head-to-shorts toile Erdem ensemble I recently scored. It's my version of camouflage in rooms whose walls might very well be covered in a matching print. Perhaps the best way to spot me: Look for the bespectacled Tom Ford-framed boy furiously jotting away notes in his Little Miss Trouble pad.
