W ith little fanfare, Marc Jacobs has opened its first accessories boutique in Texas in The Galleria. As one might expect, the new space — stocking a plethora of handbags, athletic shoes, and monogrammed hoodies, jackets, and T-shirts — is sleek, allowing the wealth of color in Marc Jacobs' palette to dominate. The Tote Bag, Bucket bag, Snapshot bag, and crossbody bags stand out in shades of royal orchid, chartreuse, red, orange sherbet, rosy pink, and purple. Since Jacob's 1984 entry into the sphere of high fashion — including his tenures as head designer at Perry Ellis, where he staged the infamous grunge collection, and his enormously successful reign as creative director at Louis Vuitton — the creative force has continued to soar for nearly four decades in the fickle fashion world. Beloved by chic men and women the world over— his posse includes Sofia I t arrived in a sturdy cardboard box with cooling inserts to keep the contents from melting. Business of Fashion previously reported that the Houston Galleria shop is one of 20 stores that Marc Jacobs is opening in the next 18 months, with the aim of hitting $1 billion in annual fashion and accessories sales in the next three to five years. Shelby Hodge F irst launched in December 2019, Prada's Timecapsule collection has been a creative outlet to keep both the house and its admirers on their toes. Featuring limited-edition works made available the first Thursday of every month, the project has entered a new phase of its relatively short existence. August 4 marked the third edition of the latest Timecapsule NFT Collection. Following sold- out collaborations with artist Cassius Hirst (son of Damien), the third launch continues with the #32 shirt, a Frankenstein-inspired print created by artist Jeanne Detallante with an archival 1950s-era flower-motif silk Lurex brocade and a silk lampas from the house's 1920s archives. We're big fans of Prada, from its informed position on environmental issues to its stance on collaborations (less is more). The Timecapsule series is an approachable way to see and purchase unique works, while the foray into NFTs allows the house to engage with fans in new ways, via the digital realm.
