And now, entrepreneur Brooke Michie is making Round Top a more beautiful place with the relaunch and expansion of her Lyric Salon and spa at a new location: a two-story old German farmhouse in Henkel Square. In Rolland Square, the trademark Veuve Clicquot continues to flow at luxury consignment boutique Modern Marla, where owner Marla Hurley has taken over the adjacent side of historic 1831 log blockhouse Moores Fort. And not a moment too soon — the new half is already filled with amazing pre- owned Gucci, Prada, and vintage YSL. "The new space will be an extension of my current space, but more luxurious," Hurley says … Leslie Kristen, who relocated from California to Round Top is open for business in the space formerly occupied by Southern Beasts, which relocated to Henkel Square, (see page 90) offering new, vintage, antique, and custom-designed furnishings and home accessories. Seeing Blue + Red: The Original Round Top Antiques Fair, the show that made tiny Round Top a must-visit antiques destination more than 50 years ago, is getting new owners. The antiques show founded by the late Emma Lee Turney back in 1968, and operated for many years by its most recent owner, Susan Franks, has now been entrusted to another local Round Top family — along with its iconic Big Red Barn — real BUZZ: RETAIL RODEO ROUND ROUND ABOUT TOP C ompound Interest: The Compound is in the midst of an ambitious expansion that keeps preservation and green space front and center, according to owner Mayor Mark Massey and show producer/director Kathy Johnston. Three new buildings, created out of historic homes saved from the wrecking ball in the Round Top area, have been relocated then meticulously restored and repurposed. The Garden House — set to be a spot for the bride and groom to get ready for their big day, as well as a venue during shows — is being readied for a spring reveal. It aligns with The Compound's new focus as a wedding destination. The Farmstead and The Cottage will be ready to welcome show-goers this fall. Come Spring 2023, The Cottage will become The Compound's new dining spot, with Bistro 108 moving from Peck Barn to expanded Cottage digs. Meanwhile, Jardin de France's lovely château-like building is being readied for the Winter Show 2023. Shop the delightful garden aerie created by Gloria and Patrice Watine at the White Barn until then. Henkel Highlights: In the heart of Henkel Square, designer destination Round Top Antiques & Design Center (RTAD) adds a new dealer: Outpost Original, joining the group of 13 vetted exhibitors. Owner Charlotte du Toit established her home-furnishing atelier in NYC a quarter-century ago, with a nod to her South African roots. Now Montreal based, Outpost Original emphasizes the texture of the continent: artisan basketry; BY CATHERINE D. ANSPON AND CANDICE COWIN, WITH ADDITIONAL REPORTING BY ANNE LEE PHILLIPS AND COURTNEY DABNEY estate developer Paul Layne, the father of Blue Hills owners Corey Layne and Stephanie Layne Disney.
