For ideas, Wolf and Holden took Harris on a tour of Houston's most beautiful areas: Hermann and Memorial parks, River Oaks, and Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens. They worked closely with the League's committee on all aspects, including when selecting the flora and fauna for the painting — deer, chipmunks, foxes, coyotes, turtles, owls, egrets, and armadillos, along with live oaks and the lush foliage found along the bayous.
