Guests in sparkling attire posed for their Hollywood red-carpet moment and sipped wine and cocktails from Ben E. Keith Co., which donated the pours. T h e n e v e r y o n e beelined to two Cuddle Zones where yawning puppies awaited a warm embrace, and to the silent auction to bid on such goodies as a Dolce & Gabbana Sicily bag and a $3,000 Bachendorf's gift card. Downstairs, the ballroom dazzled in black, white, and gold, with magnificent orchids from Central Market centering each table. Emcee Brian Curtis of NBC 5 charmed the crowd with the tale of his adopted dog, Ocho, from the SPCA of Texas. President and CEO, Chris Luna, announced a new $31 million capital campaign, Care Unleashed, that will add 39,000 square feet to the campus, which is being reimagined as The Stephens Greth Foundation Campus and home to a new building, The Addy Foundation Care and Recovery Center. Remarkably, Care Unleashed is already more than 80 percent funded. Dinner from Vestals Catering was served, followed by a lively live auction headed by auctioneer Grant Snyder. As for the pup Sapphire … A video about her journey to healing played, culminating in her triumphant walk onto the stage with her mom, Krystelle — demonstrating the impact of SPCA of Texas on the lives of animals. Afterwards, guests poured onto the dance floor to the beats of the Manhattan band. By night's end, one lucky pup was adopted and more than $820,000 had been raised.
