History: For more than 50 years, the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club has produced a dazzling Decorator Show House on the Upper East Side in New York City. The event, which doubles as the nonprofit's biggest fundraiser, is a boon for both its host city and the designers chosen to participate. In 2017, the elite event expanded to Palm Beach, then to Dallas in 2020. VIP Opening Preview Day: Thursday, November 6, 4 to 8 pm. Tickets start at $500. Pierre Cardin Blazes a Trail B orn in Italy in 1922 but renowned as a French designer, P i e r r e C a r d i n trained in the Paris ateliers of Christian Dior, Jeanne Paquin, and Elsa Schiaparelli. He made his break and opened his own salon in 1950 and became known for his 1960s space-age style. The iconic designer's legacy lives on today, and in 2022 (two years after his passing at the age of 98), the Pierre Cardin Young Designers Award (PCYDA) was launched as a global competition t o c u l t i v a t e t h e coming generation of fashion innovators. The winner will be announced at an invitation-only event on Thursday, November 20, at the Hall of State in Fair Park. The evening includes a runway s h o w f e a t u r i n g the latest Cardin H a u t e C o u t u r e under the auspices of creative director Rodrigo Basilicati-Cardin, as well as selections from the Heritage Collection. The archival pieces were selected by vintage fashion purveyor Ken Weber of Martini Consignment in Dallas (which he co-owns with his husband, Greg Kelly). The collection, spanning the 1970s to the present, will be available to the public exclusively through Martini Consignment beginning Thursday, November 20.
