And the world is the runway." More than 500 philanthropic guests took those words to heart at the 12th Annual Labor Day Luncheon and Style Show benefitting the March of Dimes. Marking the unofficial start of fall's busy social season, The Woman's Hospital of Texas produced a Pop-art inflected afternoon, titled "Make a Statement," at the Royal Sonesta, co-chaired by the hospital's new CEO, Ashley McClellan, and anchor lady Gina Gaston Elie. Boutique shopping, a fashion seminar and runway show raised more than $52,000 for long-time partner March of Dimes (The Woman's Hospital underwrote the entire afternoon). The seated luncheon was paired with a fashion show/trend forecast narrated by Rebecca Matthews, and choreographed by Todd Ramos with sporting looks from BB1 Classic, Chloe Dao, Woody's Furs, Lucho and more. Honoring the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Family Support Program at The Woman's Hospital of Texas, Lisa Garcia, who delivered triplets prematurely, gave a moving keynote in tribute to the doctors and nurses at the hospital. (The NICU Family Support program will benefit more than 1,400 Houston-area families this year.)
