I t was a high-octane evening — and one of the sig- nature events leading up to Texas Contemporary Art Fair. A contingent of collectors, gallerists, and the well-heeled fl ocked to Saks Fifth Avenue's Galleria fl agship for the offi cial fête that kicked off year six of the fair that brings international (in- cluding a delegation of Mexico dealers), national, and Texas galleries to town. The vibe was visual and smart, as guests admired Saks' new retail temple — a veritable installation showcas- ing the art of fashion. Saks VP/GM Bobby Dees and PR/fashion director Sylvia Forsythe, joined by Fair founders Max Fishko and Jeffrey Wainhause (in from New York for the occasion) wel- comed collectors Yvette and Scott Hill, Ken Christie, Carolyn Farb, Marc Melcher, Found's Ruth Davis with husband Neill, and Cali and Peter Pettigrew, chatting with exhib- itors David Shelton, Barbara Davis, Cindy Lisica, Arturo Palacios, and Marianne Bruvel. Also on the scene: Gensler's Evelyn Fujimoto and Tayler Trojcak, Michael Pearson, Maria Barnabe, Sharon and Tom DeWitt, and Uzo Agusiobo. Matt Johns and Alecia Harris of Matter presided as skillful party planners. BeDesign's Adrian Dueñas acquired the door prize, a gift basket from Serge Lutens; the international lux- ury beauty brand also gifted each guest with a collectible art volume to go with their coveted Fair VIP pass.
