T he days leading up to the debut of Reese Witherspoon's Draper James store in Highland Park Village created a bit of a frenzy. Photographers, news crews, and stargazers parked themselves outside, all awaiting their moment with Witherspoon. Indeed, the blonde Southern darling arrived to a packed itinerary of on-camera inter- views, blogger meet-and-greets, a speaking engagement for nonprofit Girls Inc., and a very VIP grand opening soirée at the charming boutique. But before the public appearances, there was a calm before the chic storm: Highland Park Village co-owners Heather and Ray Washburne invited Witherspoon and an intimate group of close friends to a FEED Supper at their beautiful home. This was no or- dinary dinner party. Founded and led by Lauren Bush Lauren, the nonprofit FEED Foundation provides meals to needy children and families. It was a preppy-Southern sight to be seen. Yes Ma'am, margaritas and pimento cheese sandwiches were served poolside during cocktail hour, with many guests sporting party dresses from Draper James, including Shannon Rotenberg, executive director of actor Matthew McConaughey's Just Keep Livin Foundation; San Francisco-based interior designer Marnie Wright; and HP Village co-owner Elisa Summers. A darling moment came by way of Dallas-born, L.A.-based photographer Gray Malin, who greeted Witherspoon with a bouquet of balloons — The two are pals, as Malin created a custom photograph for Witherspoon's Mark D. Sikes-designed Dallas store. On the party scene: HP Village co-owner Stephen Summers, Kimberly and Justin Whitman, Tina Craig, Jenna Bush Hager, Gene Jones, Charlotte Jones Anderson, and Lisa and Kenny Troutt.
