8 letter editor STEVEN VISNEAU, SISTERBROTHER MGMT. W hen we began thinking about what the first issue of 2017 would look like, we felt this month should be all about people. It reminds me of a project PaperCity debuted in the early 2000s, PaperCity Party Book — a roundup of the year's best parties and the shining faces who attended them. It feels a bit apropos as we start a new year to look back — if even briefly — at the most memorable events of 2016, and to give a nod to the social whirl that PaperCity has been the center of for almost 20 years. In doing so, social editor Jane Rozelle and I put our heads together, selecting the chicest events of the fall season and presenting them in 14 pages dedicated to parties, sprinkled throughout the issue. On that subject: assistant editor Jailyn Marcel and a flock of interns took on the mighty task of going through every party page published last year and tallying up the number of times each of our beloved socials appeared. Exactly 2,008 people appeared in our party pics in 2016, and we've high- lighted the top 35 who made the most PaperCity appearances. See for yourself (and look for your name) beginning on page 32. It isn't just the party crowd that captures our attention this month: We spotlight four bright young things on the restaurant scene, all following in their parents' culinary footsteps with their own foodie endeavors; we make the acquaintance of our city's newest design couple, Sara and Corbin See; we look back at the madcap, legendary lives of Elsie de Wolfe and Tony Duquette (soon to be brought to life in a television series by the encyclo- pedic Hutton Wilkinson); and we go inside the home of Tracy Achor Hayes, our city's most accomplished fashion editor, who is now in charge of Neiman Marcus' The Book. This is a story I'm personally quite humbled to publish, as Hayes is a woman I've long admired for her effortless personal style, unrivaled fashion knowledge, and many professional accomplishments. May this issue introduce you to at least one person who inspires you, too. Christina Geyer Dallas Editor in Chief christina@papercitymag.com
