P umpkin Patch: The iconic Tokyo- b a s e d Y a y o i Kusama touches down in Texas this month, via an epic addition to the collection of the Dallas Museum of Art (October 1 – February 25). DMA visitors will experience one of the artist's Infi nity Mirror Rooms. The creation, entering the museum collection thanks to the largesse of mega collectors Cindy and ART NOTES Howard Rachofsky (regulars on the Artnews 200 List) is particularly rare, as it's devoted to pumpkins. It's also the octogenarian artist's first such mirrored pumpkin patch in more than a quarter century — and the only one in North America. Her last iteration, crafted in 1991, was exhibited in the Japanese Pavilion at the 1993 Venice Biennale. The DMA's immersive chamber filled with acrylic spotted gourds was acquired from Kusama's London dealer, Victoria Miro Gallery. Catherine D.
