As is tradition with Menil galas, a number of artist headliners were in attendance: Korean-born JooYoung Choi and her husband, Texas Artist of the Year Trenton Doyle Hancock; sculptor Michael Heizer; New York-based Roni Horn, who will show at the Menil Drawing Institute when it opens; New York painter Matt Kleberg of the King Ranch family, here for his show at Hiram Butler with wife/artist Elizabeth Stehl Kleberg; and from the fashion side, Vogue's Hamish Bowles, Carlos Mota, and Adam Lippes; L.A. architects Sharon Johnston and Mark Lee (The Menil Drawing Institute); Picasso's grandson Bernard Ruiz-Picasso and wife gallerist Almine Rech; and Caroline Huber. Representing the night's jewelry sponsor were Tenenbaum Jewelers' Tony Bradfi eld and Kevin Black, who provided party favors: a leather wrap bracelet with a shimmering 12mm freshwater pearl, a nod to the pearl's oft-quoted relationship to the moon and as the appropriate gift for a 30th anniversary.
