E very copy of Amy Fine Collins' book, The International Best-Dressed List: The Offi cial Story (Rizzoli), was swept up in the arms of the well-dressed throng attending the New York author's book signing and lively talk at Tenenbaum Jewelers (moderated by moi). The lavishly illustrated recollection of fashion divas from 1940 to today was well received, as were Collins' insights as the ultimate insider on The International Best Dressed intrigues. A fashion icon in her own right as the slim and elegant muse of the late designer Geoffrey Beene, Collins was invited into the Best-Dressed realm by its founder, Eleanor Lambert, who created the list in 1940. The fashion roster includes two Houstonians who were in attendance, social doyenne Lynn Wyatt and her brother, Robert Sakowitz, both members of the International Best-Dressed List Hall of Fame who ascended to the sartorial throne in 1977 and 1975, respectively. Today, Collins, a special correspondent for Vanity Fair, oversees the List, which Lambert bequeathed in 2002 to Collins, Graydon Carter, Reynaldo Herrera (husband of designer Carolina Herrera), and Aimée Bell.
