THETA'S SWAN SONG A fter a 67-year run, the Theta Charity Antiques Show came to a glamorous end. The Grand Finale weekend kicked off with a fabulous preview party chaired by Brooke Solcher, Tricia Blalock, Judy Ann McCartney, and Beth Evans. Some 600 guests in cocktail attire toasted to the memories and to about 40 new and returning exhibitors from across the country and Europe. The next morning was a dazzling dais with Alexa Hampton, Charlotte Moss, Thomas Jayne and Thomas O'Brien in a panel discussion. MADELINE STUART BOOK SIGNING Designer Madeline Stuart was in from Los Angeles for a special evening chez Ruth and Jack Gay. No home in Houston looks quite like Ruth's — which is only fi tting, as she owns Chateau Domingue, the architectural salvage building materials showroom. The patinaed stone fl ooring, rustic beams, and historic mantels set a dramatic backdrop to converse with Stuart and purchase inscribed copies of her new Rizzoli book, No Place Like Home: Interiors by Madeline Stuart. In a fun twist, James Beard-award winning chef Chris Shepherd discussed connecting over food and design and Shop's Adam Cook discussed the fascinating history of nonconformist Eileen Gray and her lasting impact on modernism. The day also featured panels on trends, kitchen design, and the ins and outs of participating in a show house.
