Miguel Flores-Vianna and Lisa Fine will appear at Wells Abbott and James showrooms as part of Texas Design Week Houston Thursday, March 26, for cocktails, illustrated talks, and book signings. Texas Design Week Houston is a ticketed event. For complete schedule and tickets, go to texasdesignweek.com. W e call them the wanderers — peripatetic photographer Miguel Flores-Vianna, who lives in London, and textile designer Lisa Fine, who keeps a pied-à-terre in New York and Dallas. Miguel Flores- Vianna's breathtaking photos of interiors and architecture regularly fill the pages of Architectural Digest and Cabana. His career, he says, was shaped by the two constants of his childhood in Argentina: travel and books. His first book, Haute Bohemians (Vendome), with foreword by AD editor in chief Amy Astley, cemented his international cult-like following. His latest book, A Wandering Eye: Travels with My Phone (Vendome), takes us on a visual romp through 14 countries on five continents, all taken with his iPhone. Textile designer Lisa Fine weaves global influences and friendships throughout her book, Near & Far: Interiors I Love (Vendome), taking us through exotically decorated homes that inspire her, from India's Mughal palaces to Svindersvik, an 18th-century rococo manor house in Sweden. We step inside the residences of many of Fine's closest and most stylish friends, including the rustic Portuguese getaway of fellow textile designer Carolina Irving, the idyllic Welsh country house and garden of London designer Penny Morrison, and the whitewashed Patmos retreat of interior designer John Stefanidis. Most fascinatingly, we glimpse inside the New York apartment of Lee Radziwill, who died in February 2019. Fine forged a lasting friendship decades ago with the former princess — and sister of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. "We had lunch or dinner once a week, usually at Le Voltaire or bistro Ferdi," says Fine. Near & Far is sumptuously photographed by Miguel Flores- Vianna; the two hatched the idea to do a book together over lunch a few summers ago. "He came with me to India, and I had him flying all over the place for this book," Fine says. "We respect each other's tastes so much, and working with him was a dream."
