K en Fulk is known f o r c r e a t i n g experiences — lavishly layered interiors and unforgettable parties. The AD100 and Elle Decor A-Lister has residential and restaurant design projects around the country and was nominated for a James Beard Award for best restaurant design; his design for Leo's Oyster Bar in San Francisco was named Bon Appetit's Best New Restaurant Design. Other projects include Legacy Records, Noda and Felix in NYC, and restaurants in Miami and Las Vegas. On the party end of the spectrum, Fulk created a Hobbit-themed ceremony and reception under towering 500-year-old redwoods and garlands with thousands of flowers for the Big Sur nuptials of Napster co-founder Sean Parker and Alexandra Lenas. All 364 guests — including Sean Lennon and Sting — were dressed in Tolkien- esque garb designed by Hollywood costume designer Ngila Dickson. His book, Mr. Ken Fulk's Magical World (Abrams), showcases his residential design work for notable clients, along with his own three homes, and his magical event designs. Ken Fulk will appear at The Sarofim House on River Oaks Boulevard, hosted by New Orleans Auction House, as part of Texas Design Week Houston Friday, March 27, 6:30 pm, for an illustrated talk, cocktails, and book signing.
