T he third annual Design i n B l o o m w i t h Flower magazine takes place at The Houston Design Center and The Houston Design District Tuesday, March 24, in coordination with Texas Design Week Houston. The day kicks off with coffee at 9 am in the Leisure Collections showroom followed by a panel discussion, also at Leisure Collections, 9:30 am, with architect Bobby McAlpine, designer Ray Booth, landscape architect Jon Carloftis, and flower designer Lewis Miller of LMD, New York, moderated by Margot Shaw, editor in chief of Flower magazine. Breakout sessions follow, first with AD100 and Elle Decor A-List architect Bobby McAlpine and designer Ray Booth with the McAlpine firm, at 11 am, presented by Lee Industries at James Craig Furnishings Showroom. McAlpine and Booth will speak about their award-winning, much-published work; book signings follow. A luncheon is at noon, hosted by MAI + Studio 7026 Showrooms. Next up at 1:30 pm, a complimentary shuttle takes us to the Walker Zanger Showroom for landscape designer Jon Carloftis' presentation and book signing. At 3 pm is Lewis Miller of LMD, New York, who created the gone-viral Flower Flash, hosted by Scene One Interiors, followed by a book signing. From 5 to 8 pm, the day ends with a bang — cocktails with Ray Booth and a first peek at the new Hickory Chair Showroom and Booth's stunning collection for Hickory Chair (see page 94 for more on the collection).
