20 A MESSAGE FROM OUR HEART A s we push through these trying times with the COVID-19 pandemic; the terrible, unwarranted deaths of George Floyd and others; and the destruction of property by the hands of the misguided, we are watching on our screens the march in Houston on Tuesday, June 2 — 60,000 strong. The speeches ended with the hope that as we move through this, we will forge a new trail. A new every day. As fall approaches, we're preparing for the possibility of new forms of charitable events. Whether it's masks and social distancing at live events, Zoom talks, or printed materials, we will be there to support. Texas Design Week Houston (October 26 – 30) and Texas Design Week Dallas (September 21 – 25) will go proudly forward with all safety precautions in place. As we organize the schedules of our speakers, check texasdesignweek.com for the most up-to-date information. We hope everyone will join together to support our local community in whatever ways make you most comfortable. Whether it's dining out at restaurants, ordering curbside pick-up, shopping locally in boutiques or from the comfort and safety of your home, or visiting museums virtually or in person, every bit helps our local and national retailers and restaurants recover from financial hardship. As a company, PaperCity is proud to support our community through our digital and print platforms, providing readers with new content throughout the day and allowing people to feel connected, even when we cannot all be together. We're happy to see that our contribution to the community is working, as the traffic on our site has increased to more than 2.5 million unique visitors per month — showing us that papercitymag.com has been an important resource for Dallas and Houston during this difficult time. In print, we are focusing on art and design, photographing meaningful interiors and stunning new collections in lighting, rugs, linens, and tableware. We're interviewing people who are turning on a dime to make art, retail, and restaurants reflect our times. In the throes of COVID-19, the Taj Mahal of Indian restaurants, Musaafer, has opened in The Galleria. Two years in the making, this is the first U.S. restaurant for Dubai-based Spice Route Company. And, it's stunning; see pages 40 through 42. Another first for the U.S., the patient-tailored Sydenham Clinic specifically targets genetic predispositions, taking rigorous medical and wellness measurements to create custom, curative approaches to healthy longevity; see page 26. And, Cornelia Guest, New York deb of the '80s and pal of Andy Warhol and Halston, has moved to Texas — Dallas, to be precise, but still … (page 52). We look forward to supporting the new normal.
