36 A PROJECT RUNWAY WINNER AND AN ACTIVIST TAKE THE LEAD. WORLD AIDS DAY LUNCHEON SHELBY HODGE PRESENTS AN AWARD. PHOTOGRAPHY MORRIS MALAKOFF, DANIEL ORTIZ. I t was a smart crowd that arrived midday at the Bayou Place ballroom in celebration of World AIDS Day. The stylish assembly was inspired not only by the mission of supporting AIDS Foundation Houston but also by the swell trio who chaired the luncheon: Carrie Brandsberg-Dahl, Adrián Dueñas, and Duyen Nguyen. The program featured Project Runway winner Mondo Guerra chatting with emcee Ernie Manouse of Houston Public Media, about Guerra's revelation in Season 8 that he was HIV positive. His message complemented that of New Yorker Bruce Richman, founding executive director of the Prevention Access Campaign, who received the Shelby Hodge Vision Award for his work toward ending the stigma of HIV and curtailing the spread of AIDS. Who: Mayor Sylvester Turner, City Council members Karla Cisneros and Robert Gallegos; and Sara Speer Selber, George Lancaster, Caroline Starry, Dr. Roland Maldonado, Fady Armanious, Kelly Gale Amen, Kristina Somerville, Ceron, Stacey Lindseth, Marcelo Saenz, Marc Nguyen, and Sverre Brandsberg-Dahl.
