T his month, we celebrate new beginnings. Spring has sprung. School is winding down. And vacation mode is starting to set in. Did I mention that there's a much-needed sense of normalcy in the air? I can feel it, and I welcome it with open arms. By the time you pick up this issue, any adult who wants a vaccine will be eligible to receive one, making it much safer for all those in-person to-dos we missed this past year. I received my second shot last month, and as I look at my calendar for the coming weeks, I'm excited and optimistic about the events ahead: happy hour with friends, lunches with clients, store openings, nonprofit soirées, and date nights at several new restaurants that my husband and I can't wait to try (Monarch at the new Thompson hotel and Âme in Bishop Arts, to name but two). Our city is coming back to life, albeit cautiously, and I couldn't be more ready. We're excited to kick off a season of safe in-person events on Thursday, May 13, with The Family Place's ReuNight. Sponsored by PaperCity, this year's intimate fundraiser will take place outdoors in the beautiful garden of the Nasher Sculpture Center. Like many nonprofits, The Family Place has faced countless challenges during the last year, from pivoting operations because of the pandemic to weathering damage caused by February's winter storm. We look forward to supporting the organization and its efforts to provide safe shelter and services for people experiencing domestic violence. Come Memorial Day, we're kicking off the holiday weekend with beloved outdoor destination Klyde Warren Park. On Thursday, May 27, PaperCity is a sponsor for a private fundraising concert starring country great Robert Earl Keen. As of press time, tickets were still available to purchase in pods of six guests. We'll see you there — with a Mi Cocina Mambo Taxi in hand. Speaking of new beginnings, we're uncorking the champagne this month and raising a glass to PaperCity's new Dallas HQ. After a lengthy renovation, we're thrilled to move into our new offices at River Bend in the Dallas Design District. Not only are we excited to once again work safely in-person as a team, but we can't wait to spend time with our artful new neighbors, from the Dallas Art Fair to Gallery 12.26. Cheers to new digs, new beginnings, and a new season. Brooke Dowdy Dallas Publisher brooke@papercitymag.com 20
