DESIGN DOUBLE Two venerated family-run design brands — Samuel & Sons and Romo — have opened showrooms side-by-side in the Dallas Design Center, sharing a 6,300-square-foot space with soaring 18-foot ceilings. SAMUEL & SONS Long considered among the most coveted passementerie in the world and beloved by designers, Samuel & Sons has opened a 2,000-square-foot flagship showroom in the Dallas Design Center — the brand's only dedicated showroom in Texas. The 75-year-old family-run company produces trims fashioned into tassels, braid, gimp, fringes, and cords in wool, silk, linen, crystal, glass, seashells, metal, and wood. With a design archive of more than 15,000 trims, Samuel & Sons has also collaborated with designers Lori Weitzner, whose collections include cultured pearls and precious gems, along with Timothy Corrigan and Laura Kirar. Founder Sam Cohen operates the company along with sons Michael, Hymie, and Joseph, from their flagship Manhattan showroom. Samuel & Sons is also known for its semi-custom and custom collaboration. ROMO Founded in England in 1902 by Robert Mould, Romo is a family-run fabric and wallcovering business in its fifth generation, managed by the founder's great grandson, Jonathan Mould, along with his niece Lindsay and children Felicity, Jordan, and Emily. Design director Emily Mould leads the in- house studio in Nottinghamshire as a laboratory of creativity and ideas, with a team of designers that include expert weavers and talented artists. Romo's library of fabrics and wallpapers joins an array of brands under The Romo Group umbrella including Black Edition, Kirkby Design, Mark Alexander, Villa Nova, and Zinc.
