S tep your Stubbs & Wootton loafers through the doors of The Colony Hotel in Palm Beach, and you'll long to settle onto a tropical-flora sofa with a salmon-colored copy of Financial Times — to coordinate with the hotel's trademark pink exterior, naturally — and a Bluestone Lane cappuccino from the new Brooklyn- based coffee roasters' cafe on site. Gone is the lobby; in its chic stead is the Living Room, exquisitely redesigned by Kemble Interiors at the behest of the hotel's young new owners, Sarah and Andrew Wetenhall. "The Colony's pink presence at the end of Worth Avenue has made it a favorite spot on the island for generations," says Mimi McMakin of Kemble Interiors, who designed the 89-room hotel's lobby revitalization with colleagues Cece Bowman and Mackenzie Hodgson.
