F or months, our Instagram feeds have been filled with images of the restored 1928 Commodore Perry Estate in Austin, a stunning architectural landmark reimagined as the first Auberge Resort in Texas. Recently, however, a glamorous new facet of the 10-acre property caught our eye: Lutie's Garden Restaurant, named for Commodore Perry Estate matriarch Nannie Lewette "Lutie" Perry. Every stunningly plated dish on the Texas Heritage menu by culinary power couple Bradley Nicholson (Barley Swine, Austin; Birdsong and Benu, San Francisco) and Susana Querejazu (Odd Duck and Barley Swine, Austin; Quince Restaurant and Saison, San Francisco) deserves a carefully framed snap, as do the views of the rolling grounds. A recurring star of every image is the space itself — sumptuous, jewel- box interiors created by San Francisco designer Ken Fulk, who is designer and creative director for Commodore Perry Estate. "Lutie's is delightfully old-fashioned, like the best version of a country club meeting a charming garden party," Fulk says.
