yet unlike any restaurant you've seen." Austin architecture firm Clayton Korte designed Lutie's as a poetic addition to the historic estate, hugging the original stone perimeter walls. As the ivy takes hold and covers the walls of the restaurant, Lutie's becomes a much- loved dowager duchess of the estate. The lush interiors echo the Jazz Age history of the property, with Murano glass chandeliers studding the restaurant and bar, tumbled black-and-white stone floors and garden-green trellis ceiling. Presented through the whimsical worldview of Fulk, Nicholson and Querejazu's menu is a full-sensory experience. Classic regional flavors, crafted to perfection thanks to the team's combined knowledge, are as dynamic as the space itself and pair beautifully with the craft cocktails and rare vintage liquors. While the Commodore Perry Estate dining options are open to hotel guests and members, Lutie's is open to the public — with reservations accepted 90 days in advance; each night at midnight, the 90th day opens for bookings on OpenTable. Hint: Set up an alert on OpenTable to be notified when a reservation slot becomes available. Lutie's Garden Restaurant, Commodore Perry Estate, 4100 Red River St., 512.817.5200, luties.com. Clockwise from top left: Garden hand rolls with cucumber dip. Jazz Age cocktails and desserts. A roasted lettuce dish. Kouign amann ice cream. (Continued from page 96) 98
