Dreamy Dinnerware Gallery to Garden OBSESSIONS. DECORATION. SALIENT FACTS. P hotographer Shayna Fontana is known for her fabulous surrealist fashion editorials for magazines such as Elle, Harper's Bazaar, and PaperCity. Her perspective-shifting reimagination of ordinary items has been translated into a collection of fine bone-porcelain plates and platters dubbed Beyond the World, and created in collaboration with NYC-based Prospect, available exclusively at Forty Five Ten. Fontana's culinary passion was ignited when she worked with Top Chef's Padma Lakshmi on a cookbook and traveled to Asian food markets, which inspired Fontana to train her lens on culinary subjects in a unique manner. The plates and platters feature avant-garde close-ups of fish, vegetables, fruit, and noodles, and in true Fontana fashion, she evokes a vivid sense of beauty and whimsy in mundane objects. Salad plates are available at $88 each; pre-order platters and dinner plates, $240 and $160 respectively. Beyond the World by Shayna Fontana for Prospect, exclusively at Forty Five Ten, 1615 Main St., fortyfiveten.com. Anne Lee Phillips F rom canvases to wallpaper, fabrics, and historic houses, museum-collected artist Hunt Slonem is known for his multi-hyphenate menagerie of bunnies, butterflies, and birds that joyfully cross-pollinate the worlds of art, interiors, and design. Now, Slonem — who is exclusively represented in Texas by Laura Rathe Fine Art — makes his grand garden debut in "Huntopia: Bunnies, Birds & Butterflies" at the San Antonio Botanical Garden, in a partnership with the Mays Family Foundation. The exhibition, four years in the making, offers a bicoastal exploration of the art of blown glass undertaken between studio teams in New York and Seattle, in collaboration with international artisans and craftspeople. Slonem's resulting al fresco sculptures burst forth outdoors. Many are executed on a monumental scale, encrusted with mirrored, colored mosaic surfaces that give off disco-ball vibes. Slonem's fauna for this luxuriant 38-acre green space within the heart of San Antonio has been a thrilling endeavor for the artist. May 4 through November 3, at San Antonio Botanical Garden; admission included with garden entry; tickets and info sabot.org/ huntopia. Catherine D.
