Letter from the Editor W elcome to our l a s t i s s u e o f 2025. The past 12 months have gone by in the b l i n k o f a n eye. I've likely attended close to a dozen black-tie galas, countless trunk shows, a rodeo or two, and I actually made it to one Cowboys game this fall. (Yes, call me Sporty Spice.) Right now, you are likely getting ready for the slew of soirées that herald the onslaught of the holidays. I'm quite certain I'll bump into you — or, rather, clink your champagne coupe in a toast — at some well- appointed manse in the 75205. Yes, we've reached the finish line of Dallas' society marathon. Congratulate yourself with a stiff Ranch Water. For December, we're making this our Objects issue. We toyed with themes earlier this fall and realized that the gift ideas we generally present for the holidays are all objects … objects of desire … objects of affection. Covetable tabletop items, shoes for any Cinderella (or Cinderfella), and, of course, jewelry to bedazzle. Objectify them all to your heart's content. To end the year on a whimsical note, we also flipped that term and have a feature titled "I Object" — a cautionary tale about how not to celebrate the holidays. We even found a Sex Object for your viewing pleasure. If you somehow missed this year's Kips Bay Decorator Show House Dallas, go to pages 74 to 90, where we reveal rooms created by 18 of the anointed designers. And stay tuned for our January/February 2026 issue, where you'll enjoy vicarious entrée to some of the swellegant events associated with the show house, many held in conjunction with Texas Design Week Dallas, and attended by a veritable who's who of the international design set. (We spotted Amy Astley, David Kleinberg, Alfredo Paredes, Nate Berkus, J.J. Martin, and Martin Brudnizki, all raising a glass in honor of Nazira Handal and the Kips Bay team.) For my final letter of each year, I often share the New Year's resolutions I've begun to compile. Alas, it's been such a whirlwind lately that I have yet to contemplate that noble task of making myself better. In addition to my Smythson datebook packed with party after party, I've also recently purchased a new home that I need to move into before years end. Perhaps my sole resolution will be this: to live each day with no expectations. Find joy in every experience that 2026 has in store (one undoubtedly will be seeing the likes of Miranda, Andrea, Emily, and Nigel again in The Devil Wears Prada 2). Join me in bidding adieu to this year well-lived. Cheers, Billy Fong Dallas Editor In Chief billy@papercitymag.com Billy Fong and Dana Garner. Illustration Peyton Thorp. 24
