M ellerio, one of the w o r l d 's o l d e s t and most storied jewelers, is now available at Stanley Korshak — its only U.S. home outside Bergdorf Goodman in New York. Founded in 1613, the French joaillier has created jewelry for royalty and crowned heads across Europe. From Marie Antoinette to Empress Eugénie to Queen Máxima of the Netherlands, Mellerio's ateliers have fashioned diamond tiaras ablaze with rubies and emeralds, garlands of enameled blossoms, and ropes of pearls threaded with colored stones — lavish designs that reflected the tastes of their eras. The Mellerio flagship on Paris' Rue de la Paix has drawn Rothschilds and the courts of Spain, Russia, Italy, and Belgium — as well as diplomats, intellectuals, artists, and visiting maharajas from India. Mellerio traces its roots to 1515, when the family moved from Italy to Paris. By Mellerio's Jardin Pierreries necklace with diamonds, purple sapphires, and amethysts, $245,310. For E u g é n i e , t h e house created some of its most celebrated naturalistic pieces, including the peacock-feather brooch — a lifelike jewel with a plume rendered in sapphires, rubies, and diamonds circling a large emerald. Its articulated fronds and flexible stem, later protected by patent, gave the feather an unprecedented sense of movement. Four centuries on, the house of Mellerio is still family-run, now guided by Laure- Isabelle Mellerio, the 14th generation to lead the Maison. She is trained as a gemologist as well as an art historian and designer, often reaching into the rich family archive for direction. A sculptural oval-within-ellipse motif in gold and gemstones — a nod to the Beau Sancy diamond once owned by Marie de Médicis — is one of her recurring designs. At Stanley Korshak, Mellerio's Dallas debut showcases a selection of contemporary high jewels, many set with the bold, saturated stones that have become a house signature. Among them are the Jardin Pierreries necklace — a garland of amethysts and purple sapphires and diamonds — and the Etoile Mystérieuse pendant, a starburst of multicolored stones surrounding a sapphire cabochon. The Jardin des Rêves collection features bright gem-encrusted pineapple motifs inspired by a tapestry in Marie Antoinette's private apartments at the Palace of Versailles. Mellerio, the historic French jeweler to Marie Antoinette and Empress Eugénie, brings four centuries of royal heritage to Stanley Korshak in Dallas. By Rebecca Sherman Crowning Glory the late 1700s, the Mellerios had become jewelers to the court of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette, creating small, finely worked pieces for the queen to give her inner circle. They opened their first boutique at 20 rue Vivienne, counting Empress Joséphine among their clients. In 1815, the house relocated to Rue de la Paix, where it remains today. From this address, Mellerio served as official jeweler to Queen Marie-Amélie and later to Emperor Napoleon III and Empress Eugénie, whose regular visits turned the shop into a glittering
