Absolutely Fabulous! Style Salvation Jerry Hall at I Am Waters The Salvation Army's Women's Auxiliary seamlessly married bargains and benevolence for the ninth annual Reflections on Style luncheon at River Oaks Country Club, themed The Best of Friends and Fashion. Chairman Judi McGee orchestrated honors for Sidney Faust and Cora Sue Mach, Crystle charitable copains who've worked in tandem Stewart not only for the Salvation Army but for causes at I Am Waters including Baylor College of Medicine, the Houston Symphony and Preservation Alliance of Houston. Before the group sat for lunch and a fashion show produced by Lenny Matuszewski, ladies surveyed the Chic boutique, organized this year by Deborah Dunkum, Harriet Hart Wallace, Tena Lundquist Faust, and Joella Mach, which proffered enviable donated secondhand garments and accessories to benefit the cause. Salient shoppers: Ann Roff, Betty Hrncir, Rose Cullen, Ginger Blanton, Harry Mach, Dorothy Chairman Nicholson, Ginni Mithoff, Jeanie Kilroy, Carrie Evans at Lilly Andress and Linda McReynolds. Game, Set, Match at ROCC Forget the balls; it was fierce fashion that was being served at the River Oaks Tennis Tournament back-to-back luncheon and fashion show presented by Tootsies. This year's midday repast honoring the start of the clay court championship was produced two days in a row and chaired by Alice Mosing. Decked out in Roberto Cavalli, she had spectators (in spectators) dining and dishing in the club's ballroom instead of poolside due to uncooperative weather. Grand slams: Kirby McCool in Azzedine Alaïa, tournament director Van Barry, Hallie Vanderhider in Valentino, Tootsies major-domo Mickey Rosmarin, Allie Fields in Stella McCartney, Alexandra Knight in Peter Pilotto, Lisa Eads in Ralph Lauren, DeeDee Marsh in Oscar de la Renta, Mary Eads in Dries Van Noten, Michelle Hevrdejs in Rick Owens, Elizabeth Moore Galtney in Victoria Beckham, and Donna Josey Chapman in Giambattista Valli. Davis, a former Ford model herself, culled her Rolodex for some supermodel support from magnificent mannequins Jerry Hall, Kelly Emberg, Kim Alexis, Julie Henderson, Joan Severance and former Miss USA Crystle Stewart. Chair duties fell to fellas Gregg Davis, Richard Fant, Steve Trauber, Paul Hobby, and Roger Clemens — perhaps the real reason for the bevy of beauties. A wellspring of efficacy, the organization recently distributed its millionth bottle of water for the homeless between its work in Houston, Dallas, New York and New Orleans. Aqua advocates: Cathy and Giorgio Borlenghi, Estela Cockrell, Lynn Wyatt, Terri and John Havens, Janet Hobby, Katherine Phelps, Martha and Jose Oti, David Wuthrich, Jim Gray, Laurie and Tracy Krohn, and Thurmon Andress. So it was for Heroes for Children's seventh Heroes & Handbags luncheon, chaired by Carrie Evans and held at River Oaks Country Club. It was all about the 170 it-bags up for grabs in the silent auction orchestrated by Jo Veeningen, with sales benefitting the cause, which provides financial and social assistance to families with children fighting cancer. Thanks to label largess, bags from Bulgari, Bottega Venetta, Fendi, Susie Straubmueller and Louis Vuitton were on the block. Cause co-founder Larissa Linton bestowed the Spirit of Allie and Taylor award upon board member Karen Baerenstecher, while thanks also went out to pediatric oncology social workers at both MD Anderson and Texas Children's Hospital. Touting and toting: Heroes for Children executive director Kristy Hensel, Bulgari Houston manager Karen Turner-Smith, clutch creator Elaine Turner, mother-daughter duo Virginia Steppe and Alissa Maples, Faith Majors, Tricia Dewhurst, Aimee Snoots, and Luvi Wheelock.
