Bidding Fury Raises Funds for Glasstire STYLE FOR A MODERN AGE LOGAN BECK CLASSIC Rainey Knudson, Marita Fairbanks A cclaimed art Web site Glasstire inaugurated a new benefit, Auction Texas, showcasing 15 top lots curated by a statewide team of inthe-know experts including hometown art advisor Julie Kinzelman and gallerist David Shelton. PaperCity served as media sponsor for the eagerly contested evening at Pennzoil Place's Knoll Gallery, which resulted in a record night for GT, netting more funds than any event to date thanks to coveted offerings by talents such as Trenton Doyle Hancock, Sharon Engelstein, Debra Barrera, Tierney Malone, and Joe Mancuso, as well as the auctioneering prowess of Christies' Jessica Phifer. Among the art brigade: GT founder Rainey Knudson; chair Judy Nyquist, who scored the Barrera drawing, a homage to the Pennzoil Building; Mary and Bernard Arocha; Lawndale's Christine West; Marita Fairbanks; and gallerist Laura Rathe, who emerged triumphant in the bidding war for the 2011 Alejandro Diaz neon text work Happiness Is Expensive.
