T wo events are sacrosanct in the Houston art world: FotoFest and the equally storied Art Car Parade, which rolled into its 26th year this past season, compellingly organized and overseen by the Orange Show Center for Visionary Art. Those in the know secure coveted seats in the VIPit, a shady expanse surrounded by the historic Heritage Society, where bleachers, bites and libations make for the ultimate viewing experience. The entire gang applauded the wild, outrageous wheels such as Percy the Peacock, Hell in a Handbasket, an array of mermaids, a banana-shaped ride and the beloved Santa car.
