Henderson Ave., 972.863.9080, houndstoothcoffee.com Sean Henry has finally brought his Austin-based coffee shop to the heart of his hometown. Houndstooth Coffee made its long-awaited debut last month in the old Pearl Cup space in the vibrant Knox-Henderson district. The store, Henry's third, offers a curated coffee selection from roasters including Counter Culture coffee, Supersonic Coffee and Henry's own roaster, Tweed, which is based in Dallas. Unlike traditional coffee shops à la Starbucks, Houndstooth focuses on the preparation and tasting of coffee, plus the art of hospitality and conversation that grabbing a cup of joe so often conjures. Although he wants to keep a cohesive design throughout each of his stores, Henry solicited the help of Dallas-based design studio RAD to give our local Houndstooth a unique flow, allowing customers the option to chat with baristas or just grab coffee to go. Linden Wilson STEPHEN DUX Mini- Malle E xit Marc Jacobs, enter Nicolas Ghesquière. The former Balenciaga creative director inherited the keys to the French castle Louis Vuitton last fall. We've waited with bated breath for the debut of his first collection for the Parisian powerhouse, Fall 2014. The look has a '60s and '70s vibe — a total triumph. Yet, the showstopper of the collection proves that good things do come in small packages: the Petite Malle, a shrunken-down version of Vuitton's infamous Malle trunk. We've been spinning since we saw it on the runway dangling from the arm of model Freja Beha Erichsen. Luckily, we only had to wait a short seven months to get our hands on this mini-Malle. It's available in classic monogram canvas or damier, as well as epi leather in red, orange, white, black, rose and gold, with gold, black and silver metallic options adorning a hinge with trunk-like clasps. $5,250 to $5,500, at Louis Vuitton. Megan Pruitt Winder American jeweler David Yurman has a way of romanticizing the past — think of his signature cable bracelet dubbed Renaissance. Yurman celebrates the architecture of the time yet again with the Venetian Quatrefoil collection. The quatrefoil ("four leaves" in Latin) is a motif found in classical architecture and a central element in Venice's stonework, as seen in the façade of the Doge's Palace. Must-haves include the sizeable cuff with countless diamonds and the collectable stack rings. A first for the jeweler, Yurman creates the complete collection in both 18K rose and yellow gold, chock-full of bracelets, rings, necklaces and earrings. $875 to $39,000, launching exclusively at Neiman Marcus NorthPark. Megan Pruitt Winder CLASSICALLY REINVENTED Twenty-five years after launching their eponymous home furnishings brand Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams, the illustrious design duo is celebrating the store's silver anniversary with a yearlong party and the release of a coffee-table tome, Who We Are. In the book's 176 pages, Gold and Williams detail their passion for beautiful, comfortable furniture, but thumb through the book, and it's evident their charitable efforts and renowned corporate culture are what truly make them who they are. Celebrate with Gold and Williams in-store Thursday, September 18, when proceeds from the night benefit Dwell with Dignity. $60, at Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams; mgbwhome.com.
