T he highlights of the Signature Fall Fashion Event at The Galleria, sponsored by Vogue and PaperCity, were an epic fashion show and pre-cocktails, kicked off at a pre-party for VIPs at Versace. For the VIP pre-festivities, a troupe of fashionables turned out in first-of fall (many in Versace, of course) to socialize with Vogue's market stylist Cara Crowley, in for the marquee event from New York (on the first day of New York Fashion Week, no less). Champagne and Bacardi cocktails, along with tiny lamb meatballs and mini tuna tacos from A Fare Extraordinaire, fueled the evening. Athena Klein, events manager at Versace, welcomed the host committee — seven local ladies selected for their on-point personal style: Hunter Bell (fashion designer, about to become a mom for the first time, who recently moved to Houston from NYC with husband Paul), Kate Dorn, Christine Falgout, Morgan Garvey, Melissa Juneau, and sisters Erin Breen and Katie McClure (the duo has introduced a line of caftans with a philanthropic edge called Mirth). Simon's Andrew Huang, Galleria marketing director, stopped by to make the rounds with the VIPs. Also on the exclusive scene: Versace store manager Antonio Gallegos, The Webster's Laure Hériard Dubreuil (the second outpost of the ultra chic Miami boutique opens late November in the Galleria), Olivia Persia, Emily Burke, Erica Smith, Diane Lokey Farb, Dancie Perugini Ware, Michael Mandola, Beth Muecke, Diandra Breen, Leisa Holland- Helson, Bill Gutknecht, Julie Shuford, Jonathan Fry, Kimberly Falgout, Ashley Putman, Divya Brown, Ting Bresnahan, and Candace Thomas. As the evening unfolded, the Versace squad made their way to the main stage in the Galleria, grabbed Grey Goose cocktails and settled in to the VIP seats for the Signature Fall Fashion runway show. The invite-only crowd of 600, listened up as Vogue's Crowley and in-demand stylist Micaela Erlanger (celeb clients Lupita Nyong'o, Michelle Dockery, Oliva Munn and Winona Ryder) did the introductions and models from Page Parkes strutted in fall collections from Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Salvatore Ferragamo, John Varvatos, CH Carolina Herrera and Ermenegildo Zegna.
