36 T o be or not to be one of painter/photographer Richard Prince's iconic nurses, preferably dripping in blood, or do you channel singer/songwriter Prince? That was the question haunting the lucky ones who received a coveted invitation to Allison Sarofi m and Stuart Parr's devilish bash, titled Prince on Prince, in their Manhattan townhouse. Each year, the duo creates a theme inspired by an artist or time period, and costumes are requisite. Thus, you had nurse Martha Stewart, Marc Jacobs as a female body builder, Tory Burch as a hip Prince groupie, and Alexander Farnsworth and Adam Lippes translating "When Doves Cry." But it was the hostess who rocked the night with her interpretation of Prince's "Diamonds and Pearls." Her bespoke top and evening pant were draped with a lavender Roberto Cavalli kimono, strings of Mikimoto pearls, and ropes of faux diamonds — the jewels, Sarofi m allowed, weighing 30 pounds. "The bedazzled pajama kimono combo is an ode to 1920s Coco Chanel, if she went to a downtown speakeasy with TLC [the girl group] … a sort of urban opium-den chic," Sarofi m said. The only element more dazzling than the hostess was the motorcycle covered entirely in purple Swarovski crystals, the handiwork of jewelry and set designer Sarah Sparkles. Parr, in a white suit speckled with purple raindrops and the image of an iconic Richard Prince nurse on the back, was the creation of New York artist Kevin Bourgeois. "Halloween has always been celebratory because it's my mother's [Louisa Sarofi m] birthday," the native Houstonian said. "So I think it was a way t o carry on the tradition when I moved to New York." Past themes have included Gustav Klimt, Picasso, and Andy Warhol. "It's always a play on words," Sarofi m said. "Like 'Gauguin, Welcome to the Jungle' [a clever nod to Guns N' Roses], so people have a wide choice of costumes." Texans in the mix included Houston's Courtney Sarofi m (the hostess' sister- in-law) and BFF Aliyya Stude, both Courtney Sarofi m, Aliyya Stude Linda Fargo Ansel Elgort Amy Fine Collins Tory Burch, Stefano Tonchi Cameron Silver Yvonne Force Villareal and friend Andre Balazs
