26 IN HIS LENS: BRUCE WEBER CAPTURES DALLAS By Christina Geyer Photography Derrick Tribbey T he only thing missing was a Duchess in a ball gown, feed- ing her chickens. When fashion photographer Bruce Weber came to town to celebrate the opening of his megawatt Dallas Contemporary exhibition, "Far From Home," the city's brightest and the museum's top pa- trons turned out in force. This was Weber's larg- est museum show to date, with more than 250 photographs plus a collection of Weber's short films — a coup for Contemporary director Peter Doroshenko and Justine Ludwig, director of exhibitions and senior curator. As per Dallas Contemporary ritual, an intimate dinner was held following the private opening at the Joule hotel's glassy, glossy Terrace. Despite having had quite the whirlwind Dallas trip — Weber was spotted the previous day at The Crystal Charity Ball Ten Best Dressed Fashion Show and Luncheon at Neiman Marcus honoring Carolina Herrera; and Georgina Hartland hosted him for dinner at her home that evening — he was quite the consummate dinner companion, even stepping in front of the camera to pose for images that appeared on the chicest Instagram pages in town later that night. A word to the wise: You must see the remarkable show before it leaves town in March 2017.
