Photography Mark Nelson. W hen PaperCity began a partnership with Direct Energy, a certain initiative caught our attention. We knew the company's #GiveBrighter campaign, in conjunction with MPOWERD, to bring solar-powered lights to parts o f the world without reliable electricity was worth celebrating — and we did just that. The fi rst person I rang to help me co-host our Night of Light party was PaperCity contributing style editor Brooke Hortenstine. Next on the list was a call to The Ritz-Carlton, Dallas, which opened its recently renovated Live Oak Bar for the fête. (We always love a good party at the Ritz; they never fail to serve one of our favorite margaritas in town — a legendary recipe concocted by tequila fan and chef Dean Fearing.) Direct Energy was charged with illuminating the al fresco venue with Luci lights — the sleek, solar-powered, foldable lights that are given to thousands of families around the world via the company's philanthropic mission. The glowing orbs were suspended from trees, creating a magical twinkling ambiance. Needless to say, we're still aglow.
