66 GRIT AND GLAMOUR Elizabeth Ingram at State of Grace THE WORLD OF DESIGNER ELIZABETH INGRAM — AND A NAME YOU'LL SOON BE HEARING ABOUT growing up ROTHkO In the fall of 2015, Christopher Rothko released a volume that was both personal and of great interest to the art world due to its subject — his late father, 20th-century American master Mark Rothko (1903-1970). Mark Rothko and Jackson Pollock, both represented and iconic to the collection of the Dallas Museum of Art, are considered the most important abstract painters of the modern era. A half-century ago, patrons Dominique and John de Menil recognized Rothko's greatness and commissioned a series of paintings for the Rothko Chapel in Houston, which opened in 1971, inaugurating what would become the campus of The Menil Collection.
