OBSESSIONS. DECORATION. SALIENT FACTS. 20 E ach year, the American Institute of Architects Houston Home Tour lets us indulge in a little architectural voyeurism — a peek into residences designed by the most accomplished Houston architects. This year's homes — designed by Cusimano Architect, Brett Zamore Design, Intexure Architects, Dillon Kyle Architects, studioMet, RD Architecture, and JT ARC Studio — are open Saturday and Sunday, October 20 and 21, noon to 6 pm. PaperCity serves as media sponsor of the invitation- only pre-tour party. AIA Houston Home Tour, tickets $25 in advance of the tour; $10 single-home ticket available at door. Tickets, locations, and information, at aiahouston.org/hometour. Anne Lee Phillips Intexure Architects T he guayabera, with its pin-tucked borders and four front pockets, originally designed for a farmer to transport guavas (guayabas) — is ubiquitous among the Topo Chico-swilling country-club set. Paris Texas Apparel Co.'s Paul Hotze launched San Cristobal Guayaberas for men in 2014, and ever since, women have asked for their version. Hotze turned to local designer David Peck of women's label Miles David and style bloggers Caroline Harper Knapp of House of Harper and Lyndsey Zorich of L. Avenue to craft the ideal breezy, guayabera dress. The first collection includes a sleeveless popover and three-quarter-length versions, in beautiful cotton with vertical pleating, button front, and nipped-waist, in thirteen preppy combos of gingham, seersucker, and Greek-key Embroidery. Both are mothers, so naturally they created matching toddler and youth guayaberas. Guayabera dresses $175 to $195, at Paris Texas Apparel Co., 1341 S. Voss Road, paristexasco.com.
