The respective Knopf and Rizzoli authors compared notes about their subjects, who intersected when 20th-century art patrons Dominique and John de Menil commissioned Charles James to create interiors for their international-style house in Houston. The biographers signed their volumes, Double Vision: The Unerring Eye of Art World Avatars Dominique and John de Menil and Charles James: Portrait of an Unreasonable Man: Fame, Fashion, Art.
