OBSESSIONS. DECORATION. SALIENT FACTS. 14 A rtist Cy Twombly's hypnotic scribbles and lines have inspired a collection of high jewelry f o r G r a f f . I t 's hardly a surprise, given Graff chairman Laurence Graff's penchant for modern art: His personal collection includes works by Twombly, Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Christopher Wool, A s we were sending the April issue to print, a u t h o r W i l l i a m Middleton texted with a bombshell. The biographer of the de Menils — Double Vision was the art book of 2018 — revealed that he has signed a contract with HarperCollins. The subject: Karl Lagerfeld, with whom Middleton developed a friendship when stationed in Paris as bureau chief for Women's Wear Daily and W in the '90s. Middleton will move from Manhattan to Paris next month to begin research, taking his canine muse, French bulldog Hubert. He told PaperCity, "This will not be exhaustive, unlike the de Menil book. It will not be a day-to-day chronicle. Instead, it will be an episodic look at the most important moments in Lagerfeld's life, at the world around him, and at his fierce engagement with popular culture." Of his subject, the author said: "He was a couturier and a fashion designer, of course, so that is part of the story. But he was also intensely engaged with art and design and cinema and music and literature and history— that will be drawn out." Stay tuned: Expected publication date is 2021. For the Inspired by Twombly collection, Graff's master mounters capture the spontaneity of the Post-War artist's work through baguette-cut rubies and diamonds exquisitely hand-set in earrings that spiral dramatically downward to a pear-shaped ruby. The collection includes a bracelet of seemingly infinite swirls, creating a three- dimensional spiral of diamonds. Graff at Saks Fifth Avenue, The Galleria, 5175 Westheimer Road, graff. com. Anne Lee Phillips E ver since Goodnight Hospitality's honky-tonk Goodnight Charlie's arrived in 2017, we've eagerly awaited the next three projects announced for the group's new Curtis & Windham- designed building in Montrose, adjacent to Goodnight Charlie's and Biscuit Home. Opening in June are Rosie Cannonball, a casual European dining concept with wood-burning grill, and the petite powerhouse retail shop Montrose Cheese & Wine, which focuses on small fromage and vino producers, with food and wine gifts selected by the Biscuit Home team. Opening later this year is March, an intimate, boundary-pushing 28-seat fine-dining Mediterranean restaurant. But that's not all: Goodnight Hospitality partners — master sommelier David Keck, chef Felipe Riccio, and Pete McCarthy (married to Biscuit Home owner Bailey McCarthy) — just staged an exciting coup: Master sommelier June Rodil has signed on as Goodnight's fourth partner. Rodil is one of only 26 women in the Americas to earn a Master Sommelier credential. When the De La Torreses retired, they handed over the reins to Patrick Lam of Lam Bespoke. "It was unexpected and humbling, to say the least," Cathy Lam says. "We've long admired their work and felt honored to be entrusted with the business they built these past decades." All of the talented craftsmen behind the custom bench-made furniture remain on board, and the Lams have added two seamstresses to CCF's arsenal.
