JAY JEFFERS GOES BOLD BY REBECCA SHERMAN J ay Jeffers' San Francisco design studio has created luxurious and livable interiors around the country, from Napa Valley and the Bay Area to Florida, Colorado, and New York. But Texas claims the Elle Decor A-list designer as our own. Not only does he have projects in Texas, but Jeffers grew up in Dallas and attended The University of Texas at Austin. Since departing for the West Coast, he has launched two collections for Dallas-based Arteriors and a line of architectural hardware for Accurate Lock & Hardware. His must-visit San Francisco retail showroom, The Store, offers Jeffers' bespoke furniture along with beautiful objects discovered during his travels. The designer has authored two books, including Be Bold: Bespoke Modern Interiors (Gibbs Smith), which corrals his newest projects. A master of details, Jeffers uses sculptural forms, exquisite materials, and bold patterns and colors to craft standout spaces. In a house overlooking San Francisco Bay, a glass stairwell slices through the living area, floors are lined with rustic hardwoods, kitchen cabinets are paneled in bronze, and the study is enveloped in charred cedar using the Japanese technique shou sugi ban.
