F resh from emceeing t h e P a p e r C i t y D e s i g n Aw a r d s presentation the e v e n i n g b e f o re , designer Mark D. Sikes brightened up a cloudy Houston evening with a progressive talk and book signing at Matt Camron Rugs & Tapestries and Paloma & Co. in the Cottages at Matt Camron. The evening began with a presentation of Sikes' book from Rizzoli, More Beautiful: All- American Decoration (a follow- up to his first book, Beautiful), hosted by Matt Camron's Sarah Esfahani Tringhese. Sikes shared his inspirations, design process, and signature items he uses in every project: boxes, bowls, and books, all things blue and white, wicker, striped Dhurrie rugs, chinoiserie, and a seamless flow between indoors and out. Sikes and guests adjourned to Paloma Contreras' atelier, Paloma & Co., for a book signing, where guests wrapped around the counter and through the well-edited boutique, anxious to get their hands on a book with his John Hancock. Sikes graciously stayed until the last book was signed.
