craftsmen to complete. The revamped lobby living room, g u e s t ro o m s a n d suites are designed in Pheasant's signature serene palettes of creams and beiges mixed with muted blues, greens, purples, and terra-cotta tones. We know you'll want to know — the iconic Mansion Bar hardly touched. Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek, 2821 Turtle Creek Blvd, rosewoodhotels.com. HALL ARTS HOTEL Now there's a place — and a very chic and sublime one, at that — to lay your travel-weary head in the Dallas Arts District. The Hall Arts Hotel makes a blockbuster showing, where art is key. The towering hotel, with its sleek glass facade and commanding views of the Dallas skyline, was designed by HKS Architects and decorated by Bentel & Bentel. It takes its place serenely near architectural masterpieces such as I.M. Pei's classically modern Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center, the Foster + Partners-designed Winspear Opera House and Rem Koolhaas- designed Wyly Theatre. With neighbors that include the Dallas Museum of Art, Nasher Sculpture Center, and Crow Collection of Asian Art, it was imperative that the hotel display a notable art collection as well. Highlights in the collection include c o n t e m p o r a r y Scottish painter A l i s o n Wa t t 's Volvere, 2019, a sensual work that suggests folds of skin, and Lava Thomas' ceiling- hung sculpture in reds and pinks, Resistance Reverb: Movements 1 & 2, 2018, which gently floats above a light-filled seating area. Photography i m a g e s a p p e a r t h ro u g h o u t t h e h o t e l 's p u b l i c spaces, including Michael Nguyen's B a n d a l o o p , which captured a dance troupe's g r a v i t y - d e f y i n g performance as they performed acrobatic movements off the side of the Hall Arts building. As you dash from Kips Bay to showrooms to talks and book signings, take a moment to relax at the rooftop pool or at Ellie's Restaurant + Lounge on the second floor. Located downtown inside a 1965 former bank skyscraper designed by George Dahl, the new Thompson Dallas hotel preserves many of the building's original design details, including teakwood panels inlaid with brass. Guest rooms are spacious, averaging more than 700 square feet; walnut-and-brass headboards, which reference Dahl's original design elements, are set against blue- lacquered walls. Two acres of indoor- outdoor space on the ninth floor — originally a private terrace for bank executives — are now a full-service spa, fitness, and wellness center; resort-style pool; and Nine at The National, a casual restaurant, and on the 10th floor is Catbird restaurant, lounge, and rooftop bar. The hotel is studded with more than $2 million in furnishings and art from prestigious international galleries, Frieze London and PAD London, along with David Yarrow photography, sculpture by Raul Maura, and paintings by David Bates and JD Miller; and furnishings designed by Barlas Baylar, Hervé Langlas, and Ad Hoc. PLAY DATE WITH A VIRGIN From the Funny Library Coffee Shop and the rooftop Pool Club to the guest rooms dubbed The Chambers, every space in Virgin Hotels Dallas features Virgin's signature dashes of red, edgy artwork, and unexpected design details. Guest rooms are retreats incorporating Moroccan- style tile, flannel wallcoverings, red shower fixtures, and red velvet Vladimir Kagan-inspired sofas. The downstairs circular Shag Room — a mainstay of every Virgin Hotel property — channels a Studio 54 vibe with smoked mirrored walls, kinetic chandeliers, black sheepskin rugs, and leopard-print and horsehair fringed ottomans. Monkey and parrot sculptures by Mexican artist Sergio Bustamante give the room a little wink. Commons Club is the hotel's flagship restaurant, bar, and lounge that serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch. The Funny Library Coffee Shop is a people-watching spot with cozy alcove seating, bookshelves, and walls covered in Moooi's Menagerie of Extinct Animals.
