ELEPHANT'S BREATH, SIGH Farrow & Ball, the 75-year-old English paint and wallpaper brand that's a favorite of interior designers, has opened its first freestanding retail store in Texas, located in the Dallas Design District. The almost- 6,000-square-foot paint emporium carries the full range of Farrow & Ball paints known for their depth and character — the result of high levels of pigments and longstanding artisanal methods used to make the paints. The brand's 132 core colors have quirky and evocative names, such as Dead Salmon, Mouse's Back, and Borrowed Light, and the iconic Elephant's Breath, a gray hue with a whisper of magenta, was created by legendary British interior designer John Fowler. NEW AND NOTEWORTHY Abitare 18, the first in Texas, s h o w c a s e s o n e of Italy's most p r e s t i g i o u s c o n t e m p o r a r y furniture brands, Molteni&C, whose creative team in Milan designed the showroom. The 6,500-square-foot space is curated by Molten&C creative director Vincent Van Duysen and will show more of the brand's collections than any location to date. In addition to Molteni&C's furniture and accessory collections, Abitare 18 debuts the Dada kitchen collection designed by Giorgio Armani, along with Van Duysen's Gliss Master series of wardrobes and closets and licensed collections by international design stars Gio Ponti, Foster & Partners, Patricia Urquiola, and Rodolfo Dordoni. PARK IT HERE — THE NEW RH ROOFTOP RESTAURANT Knox Street, long one of Dallas' most charming destinations, has been primed with the opening of RH's glittering 70,000-square-foot store. Caitlin Clark DESIGN-DRIVEN HOTELS ROSEWOOD MANSION ON TURTLE CREEK Thomas Pheasant, an Architectural Digest Dean of American Design, has created elegant new interiors for the historic Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek. Pheasant was inspired by the 1925-era hotel's original European architectural details, which include doors salvaged from a Spanish cathedral, carved marble columns that once belonged in an ancient Roman palace, and antique stained-glass windows bearing the coats of arms of British barons. Pheasant likens the new octagonal rotunda to a folly or gazebo, with an ornate plaster dome carved in a leaf-like design that cascades down the ceiling. The dome was made by Dallas-based Casci Ornamental Plaster, whose founder collaborated on the library's original plaster barrel ceiling in 1925.
