neighbors; the delicate light in the galleries softened by the ferro-concrete leaves, counter-intuitively suspended below the glass roof on heroic-scaled steel trusses; the magical art collection; and the progressive public program all make it in my mind the outstanding work of modern architecture in Texas. Camera of choice. BK: I used my phone to take all the pictures that appear in the book for a couple of reasons. First, the best camera is the one you have with you, and for me that's an iPhone. Second, this is the architectural version of street photography, and a phone is a lot less intimidating than a bulky SLR camera with a big lens. Biggest challenge. BK: I struggled to stop taking pictures. The publication date was delayed by a year and half because I insisted on revisiting the Southern Plains and East Texas to round out the coverage.
