C harming West Egg, a bolthole of a shop, is tucked away on Lake Street, which runs between Armandos Fall design books restaurant and the new Billy Reid bungalow, just off Westheimer near Kirby. Yes, you need those directions Franco Mondini painting, to find it. West Egg — named after the tiny spit of land where Jay Gatsby resides — has new goods arriving daily. Held on the first Thursday of every month, its goal is to foster connections amongst the Asian-inclined and allow everyone a chance to enjoy the institution's unique programming. Hors d'oeuvres are served; the inspiring Taniguchi–designed building is open until 9 pm, allowing one to get intimate with its art; and each month has its own themed cocktail, inspired by one of the continent's many countries (last month's was India, its drink a Bombay Blast).
