Prolific neo-expressionistic painter of flora and fauna extraordinaire (plus a few telling portraits) Hunt Slonem returns to Houston this month for an eagerly awaited exhibition. Slonem's style and talent have been celebrated by two major volumes, countless exhibitions, TV segments and representation in more than 100 museums. On Wednesday, October 11, he unfurls a new suite of canvases while making his Gremillion & Co. Fine Art debut. With his inimitable personality and rapid-fire talent, this dandy of the contemporary art world promises to set the town abuzz with his birds, bunnies, butterflies and a new series based upon hypnotic monkey eyes. On Thursday, October 11, Leslie Sinclair will sign her book Segreto: Secrets to Finishing Beautiful Interiors from 11 am to 3 pm. Pavilion W JENNY ANTILL ith every new and exciting retail development, change is inevitable. In the case of David Taylor and his mom, Mona Dees — owners of the much-loved, recently shuttered Antiques & Interiors on Dunlavy — change was a very 19th-century relic at House 849 booth at Antiques & Interiors at the Pavilion fortuitous opportunity. Vacating their Dunlavy locale, the duo has settled into a new home in the former Antique Pavilion. Renamed Antiques & Interiors at the Pavilion, they've nearly doubled in size. In addition to bringing 31 of their antique, art and design proprietors with them (including Faded Rose Antiques and Mary Daly of The Fabulous Flea), they've multiplied their dealer count to a whopping 80 within 25,000 square feet of glorious floor space. Several esteemed residents of the former establishment — including Crow & Co., David Lackey Antiques & Art and Pillsbury-Michel, Past Era Antique Jewelry — continue to have booths, while Taylor and Dees have attracted those who ply in the interiors trade, too — but not to the exclusion of the collectors who, with a rabid passion for quality art, antiques and jewels, wander in to discover their next covetable find.
